Our Story

Trusted professionals serving the community with quality excavation and septic services

When Hunter Thomasson first picked up a shovel on a commercial construction site over a decade ago, he couldn't have known he was laying the foundation for what would become one of Central Virginia's most trusted excavation and septic service companies.

Starting from the ground up, quite literally, Thomasson spent years mastering the intricacies of large-scale commercial projects. From multi-million dollar developments to complex infrastructure work, he learned that success in this industry demands more than just operating heavy machinery. It requires precision, an unwavering commitment to quality, and an understanding that every detail matters.

"I learned early on that cutting corners wasn't an option," Thomasson recalls. "In commercial construction, you're building something that has to last. That mindset stuck with me."

That philosophy has proven valuable as Thomasson transitioned from working on other people's projects to building his own business. With a deep understanding of what it takes to build something lasting, he brings that same commitment to every excavation and septic project.

Today, Thomassons Septic & Excavating serves residential and commercial clients throughout the region, bringing that same commercial-grade expertise to every project, whether it's installing a residential septic system, clearing land for development, or responding to an emergency repair call at 2 a.m.

But perhaps what sets the company apart most is its local roots. As a family man living and working in the same community he serves, Thomasson approaches every job with a neighbor's perspective. "We're not some faceless corporation," he explains. "We're your neighbors. Our kids go to school here. We shop at the same stores. When we work on your property, we treat it the way we'd want someone to treat ours."

That commitment to community runs deep. Since the age of 16, Thomasson has served as a volunteer firefighter, answering emergency calls and protecting his neighbors. This dedication to service extends beyond the firehouse. He currently serves as Vice President on the board of the First In Foundation, a nonprofit public charity that raises funds for volunteer fire and rescue companies throughout the region. It's this spirit of service and genuine investment in the community's wellbeing that shapes how Thomassons Septic & Excavating operates.

It's this combination of commercial construction expertise, entrepreneurial drive, genuine community investment, and a lifelong commitment to service that has earned Thomassons Septic & Excavating its reputation as the go-to choice for property owners who refuse to compromise on quality.
